Maine Pretrial Services offers statewide case management services to indigent clients with counsel through the Maine Public Defender's Office (PDS).

This program offers a variety of case management services that begin with a targeted risk and needs assessment. Case planning and risk mitigation include referrals to appropriate, effective, and evidence-based community resources, and barrier removal advocacy for improved access.

These services are provided at no cost to parents, provided a referral is completed. Eligible parents must be 18 years or older, have a child or children with an open DHHS child protection case and have an attorney funded through PDS.

What We Provide:

  • Referral-based case management for parents in child protective cases
  • Individualized service plans addressing treatment, housing, and stability
  • Court date reminders and support meeting case plan requirements
  • Connection to community resources and long-term supports for families
  • Regular collaboration with defense attorneys on client progress
